At the start of this journey, I wanted to document my first couple of years as an artist. The struggles and trials and celebrations.
Funny, after the first step in faith of quitting my job, my first show as a full-time artist was back were I call home. Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
While I still want to document these first couple of years, I think I need to go back a little further. To events that have shaped my career in seemingly indirect ways.
So, what better way to do that but in paint?
At the end of September, I will be releasing the newest of 5 paintings from my studio aptly named the Journey Series. They don’t directly tell life events over these past years, but as a birds eye view. The excitements, the struggles, the disappointment, the darkest of days and the light. Each painting has a reflection or story of its own journey to accompany it.
I will be adding each of these to the website at the end of the month, so be on the look out. :)
My hope with this new collection is to reach deep into your heart and touch somewhere that may be hidden. For you to know you aren’t alone and never have been. That someone else has possibly walked this path as well.
What a glorious thing to know you aren’t alone, isn’t it?
This journey, my art, isn't about me. It’s about telling the stories of those around me. To capture moments in paint. To make us all human to one another.
In the coming months, here is where I will need YOUR help with that specific goal. In the past, I have painted solely from my own photographs unless it was a commission. And I made it a rule. With these new type of paintings, however, I will be focusing on skies. Lots of them. Each telling a story that is bigger than the painting itself.
I would LOVE for you to email me your best pictures of rainy skies, sunsets, sunrises...really anything that speaks to you. And tell me WHY. Yours may be one of the photographs I use for inspiration. If I do, you will receive a signed gicleé print of that painting as a THANK YOU!
Be watching for the Journey Series on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Then hop over to the site to read the stories.
Thank you for walking with me this far.
